


Armenian President & Defense Minister in Seperate Meetings with Celeste Wallander, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Discuss Defense Cooperation
On July 16, 2010, President of Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan received Celeste Wallander, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense.
The President of Armenia underscored that Armenia is interested in deepening cooperation with the United States which is not only in the interests of our country but also can become an important factor for the enforcement of peace and stability in our region.
Speaking about Armenia’s contribution to international peacekeeping missions, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense thanked our country for joining these missions. The two sides underlined that Armenia’s participation not only supports the actions undertaken by the international community but also promotes combat readiness of the Armenian armed forces.
The parties discussed also regional security issues, including the current stage of the NK peace process. Ms. Wallander stressed that the United States has at all levels expressed its position regarding the inadmissibility of the use of threat of force. She added that that the United States strongly believes that there is no alternative to a peaceful resolution of the NK conflict.
The two sides emphasized the importance of the US assistance to Armenia for the reformation and modernization of the Armenian armed forces and enhancement of the Armenian-American cooperation in the areas of defense and security.
Also on the same day, the Republic of Armenia Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan received Ms. Wallander. The ambassador of the US to Armenia Mary Yohanovich was also present at the meeting. During the meeting they discussed matters regarding the military cooperation between the MoDs of the RA and the USA and its development. The parties also talked about the development of peacekeeping capabilities, staff education, teaching, and the prospects of broadening the cooperation in other spheres.

STEP 1
You need at least 3 people to create the regional chapter of Unified Young Armenians - a President, a Treasurer, and a Secretary.
STEP 2
Contact us to let us know of your intent to form a regional chapter of the UYA. We will provide you with any information that you might need.
STEP 3
We'll walk you through the creation of the process (both legal and otherwise) and would give you the necessary rights and accreditations to make you an Official Representative of UYA in your region.
STEP 4
After the establishment of the regional chapter, we will provide you with ongoing support including training, capacity building, etc.
