Events and Programs Organized by Us
Throughout the year, Unified Young Armenians are busy organizing, planning, and executing various programs and events.
We can divide our activities into 2 categories:
- Programs: This category includes the programs which are ongoing throughout the year. Some examples of such programs are our free Armenian language, history, and culture classes, voter registration assistance, free choir classes, etc.
- Events: In addition to our programs, UYA is also engaged in organizing various events both on annual or as-needed basis. These include our annual human rights march in Little Armenia, Hollywood which aims at Human Rights promotion and Genocide prevention (April 24), our annual youth leadership conferences (October), etc.
Why are these programs important?
Every program or event that is organized by young men and women of UYA serves many purposes.
First and foremost each event or program has a chief goal which that given activity aims to promote. For example our free Armenian Saturday school gives the children and teenagers of the community the opportunity to learn their mother tongue regardless of their socio-economic background. Our human rights march in Little Armenia, Hollywood, by the clear message which entails as well as its magnitude, attempts to secure a world where there would be no more Genocides through education, awareness, and activism.
Secondly, by being one of the few truly independent Armenian youth organizations, every program or the event is planned and supervised by the young men and women of UYA. They not only secure the high level of programming, but with the help of our generous donors, they also secure the funding for the activities which allows us to continue stay independent. This independent decision-making which is truly unique to UYA, allows the youth to grow and become future leaders.
