About Unified Young Armenians (UYA)
Time and again we are asked "Why are you doing this? What interest do you have? Who are you? What sets you apart from other organizations?" Therefore, we thought to put together this resource for all those who are interested about Unified Young Armenians. Here you would find the answers for almost all your questions. If you still have additional questions, do not hesitate to contact us and we will more than happy to answer them.
Who are the Unified Young Armenians?
Our Organization's strength lies first and foremost in the dedication of its members and secondly on the visionary approach of its leadership. A large majority of Unified Young Armenians' members are either full time students, mainly completing their undergraduate or graduate studies, or part-time students who are also employed in various fields. In addition, we have many members who are employed on a full time basis and members who are finishing up high school.
What is Our Mission?
Unified Young Armenians (UYA) has a vision for a world where there would be no more genocides, a world where human rights trump realpolitik, and a world in which each young man and woman takes it upon himself or herself to serve the collective good. We are here to promote world peace and understanding. We are here to empower the Armenian youths across the world. As a dynamic organization, "Uniifed Young Armenians" continues to expand its activities. Today the free Armenain classes are an important part of the cultural education of over 60 Armenian children within the community.
How are we Funded?
Our funding comes from our supporters just like you. The people who have believed in our mission, the people who have believed in Genocide prevention and Genocide recognition, those who have believed in strengthening the empowering our youth, have helped us through their moral, physical, as well as financial support. By donating to us, you are making the greatest national investment: You are investing in the future of the Armenian people, the Armenian youth. However, our mission is one that stretches above and beyond Armenian or Armenians. Today, 450 thousand people have died in the horrible Genocide in Darfur. Through education, we are raising awareness for the the innocent victims in Darfur. We also aim at preparing good citizens wherever we live in. We promote civic participation and awareness.
We don't stop there. We have numerous volunteer programs for the youth of all ages. For example, we clean and beautify the streets and sidewalks in the communities in which we live in. We are the only youth organization who has adopted 4 blocks in City of Glendale (through Adopt-a-Block Program), and clean it up on a bi-weekly basis.
Executive Committee
Ever wondered who are the Executive Committee members of the Unified Young Armenians? This is your opportunity to learn about them. Remaining true to their most important ideal of remaining independent, the Organization continues to be lead by young and professional Armenians.
Our Headquarter
Finally, after years of active service to the community, Unified Young Armenians were able to establish their first permenant headquarter. As the first of its kind, the center is both a meeting place for the youth, the classroom for the free Armenain classes, the location where many seminars take place in, and the future home of the internet television of the Organization. This center not only facilitated many great programs and events, but it also has further empowered the Armenian youth. It is noteworthy, that this is the first and only Armenian independent youth center that operates in the Southern California. In the future, we aim to expand such centers in various regions and are seeking partners in this very important mission.
