On April 24, 2015 UNIFIED YOUNG ARMENIANS (UYA), Inc. WILL HOLD A PROTEST RALLY IN WASHINGTON, D.C., FOR THE RECOGNITION OF THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE.

Planning Stage of the April 24, 2015 March on Washington, DC Has Started

GLENDALE, CA On the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Unified Young Armenians (UYA), will hold a rally in the Nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., to protest the denial of the first Genocide of the 20th century. During the years of 1915-1923, over 1.5 million Armenian civilians were killed in the Genocidal campaign perpetrated by Ottoman Turkey from 1915-1923.

Unified Young Armenians is a California-based independent youth movement, which has been in the forefronts of the fight for historic justice for nearly a decade. Since 2001, the Organization has been responsible for the largest annual protest march in the history of the Armenian Diaspora. It takes place yearly in the region of Hollywood, CA, known as Little Armenia. The event has grown in magnitude on yearly basis and has attracted local, national, and international media for its size and effectiveness in conveying the message to the countries, which still fail to duly recognize the Armenian Genocide, as it deserves to be recognized.

The failure to recognize the Armenian Genocide has led to many subsequent genocidal campaigns, such as the Jewish Holocaust, the Cambodian Genocide, and the Genocide in Rwanda, which has claimed millions of lives. Today, millions more continue losing their lives in the Darfur region of Sudan, in the first Genocide of the 21st century.

President Barak Obama pledged time and again to recognize the Armenian Genocide, both as an Illinois Senator, and in his presidential election campaign. In his campaign, President Obama promised the following to the civilized world and those who care about justice and human rights: “America deserves a leader who speaks truthfully about the Armenian Genocide and responds forcefully to all genocides. I intend to be that President.” However, the President has failed to fulfill this promise- a promise he made to the Armenian community and all humankind.

The 2015 “March on Washington” will take place on April 24, 2015. The planning stages of the “2015 March on Washington” are already underway and will continue to intensify in the future.

Many Armenian and non-Armenian entities have already pledged their assistance for this event. In this long journey, Unified Young Armenians, will continue seeking the partnership and assistance of any organization, business, or individual who would realize the importance of such a historic event.

Further details will be publicized as they become available.
