I’m writing to ask for a donation for a young Armenian who wants to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I first met Argam Movsisyan in 2016 when I directed and taught a two-week English language summer program in Vanadzor, Armenia. He was a student again in 2017 when I returned to Vanadzor. In 2018 and 2019 he was an assistant teacher in the program. He was so outstanding that I asked him to join me in a similar program teaching English in 2018 in Plunge, Lithuania.
Argam is currently finishing high school at Givat Haviva International School in Israel. He received a scholarship to GHIS that paid 97% of tuition and expenses. He’ll be receiving an IB (International Baccalaureate) degree in June 2021. Givat Haviva International School: https://gh-is.org/
In order to avoid serving in the Armenian army immediately following high school, an Armenian man needs to be accepted at one of the “Top 50” world universities. Argam has been accepted at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, one of the Top 50 international universities. The problem? The total cost for an international student for one year at UW-Madison is close to $60,000. Armenia is a poor country and Argam’s family doesn’t have enough money to pay for an expensive university. Without proof of adequate financial support, Argam cannot even apply for a student visa into the US.

My name is Liana. I have a suggestion regarding the March for justice that takes place every year. I do participate with my family every year. I think if you guys could arrange with city and use some resources to plant trees in an area that the city would allow. If all the people who are going to participate in the march on April 24th, would go to the designated area where each one or each family plants a tree as a memory to those lives taken during Genocide and wars. In order to avoid serving in the Armenian army immediately following high school, an Armenian man needs to be accepted at one of the “Top 50” world universities. Argam has been accepted at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, one of the Top 50 international universities. The problem? The total cost for an international student for one year at UW-Madison is close to $60,000. Armenia is a poor country and Argam’s family doesn’t have enough money to pay for an expensive university. Without proof of adequate financial support, Argam cannot even apply for a student visa into the US.

My name is Liana. I have a suggestion regarding the March for justice that takes place every year. I do participate with my family every year. I think if you guys could arrange with city and use some resources to plant trees in an area that the city would allow. If all the people who are going to participate in the march on April 24th, would go to the designated area where each one or each family plants a tree as a memory to those lives taken during Genocide and wars. We won’t create the traffic that we do every year, then everyone else would appreciate and see what work we can do when we unite. For example, we might have goal to reach 1.5 million trees planted during several years to symbolize the lost lives.
